The World Intelligent Driving Challenge (WIDC) 2022 was held in Dongli District, Tianjin Municipality recently. Hosted by National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Cyberspace Administration of China, Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Association for Science and Technology and Tianjin Municipal People's Government, the competition was jointly organized by Dongli District People's Government, China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co., Ltd., China Association of Productivity Promotion Centers, and Professional Committee of Intelligent Driving of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence. Universities including Tsinghua University, Jilin University, Southeast University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Tianjin University, Beijing Jiaotong University, and enterprises like ARCFOX, NIO, Li Auto, XPENG, CHANGAN AUTO, HAVAL participated in the competition.
“Wugongli Racing Team” sponsored by School of Mechanical Engineering of CTBU won the silver medal in the Intelligent Internet Challenge. With Dr. YANG Zhiyu as the Instructor and Mr. ZHANG Jianheng as the Head, the team composes of 3 postgraduates and 5 undergraduates from the Autobot Association of the School of Mechanical Engineering. After half a year of theoretical study and system engineering practice, the team has successively overcome a series of problems such as hardware integration, software programming, vehicle debugging, and achieved success in the end.
