The Ministry of Education issued The Notice of The General Office of The Ministry of Education on Publishing the List of National and Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction Sites In 2021 (JGTH [2022] No. 14) recently. Seven majors of CTBU, including Investment, Auditing, E-Commerce, Economic Statistics, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Food Science and Engineering, and Physical Education, were selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites. Up to now, CTBU has 20 national, 29 provincial and 39 university level first-class majors, covering 55% of the number of majors of our yearly enrollment.

In April 2019, the Ministry of Education initiated the “Double Ten Thousand Plan” for the construction of first-class undergraduate majors, which is, to list about ten thousand national and about ten thousand provincial undergraduate majors construction sites from 2019 to 2021, to promote the development of majors in new engineering, medical, agricultural, and liberal arts. The Plan also aims at building first-class majors, cultivating first-class talents, thoroughly revitalizing undergraduate education, strengthening the competence of nurturing students in colleges and universities, and realizing the connotative development of higher education.

In parallel with the requirements of “new engineering, medical, agricultural, and liberal arts” and the goal of building first-class majors, CTBU will take the opportunity of the construction of first-class undergraduate majors and seize the important starting point for the implementation of connotative development to further strengthen our power in aspects such as the reform and innovation of professional training mode, faculties and teaching teams, teaching resources and curriculum construction, students’ innovation and entrepreneurship training, education and teaching research and reform, and construction of quality assurance system, etc. in accordance with the OBE concept and national professional quality standards. We will exemplify the leading role of the listed majors in the development of our university, consolidate the connotative development, improve our students’ competence, so as to contribute to the construction of “twin goals and parallel progress” for Chongqing and Great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation by cultivating more capable graduates.
